I don’t mean to be funny, but couldn’t you… say… buy a coconut, and then grate it? The stuff on top of these “cheesecakes” you keep showing pictures of looks just like grated carrot, only made out of coconut, and I seem to recall the two having a similar kind of consistency…

Aldi brioche is to be avoided too. Even the birds don’t want it.

Never tried or heard of your Coventry God cakes – mind you of they are really centuries old I’m not sure I want to – Seriously, next time I am in the area I will try and hunt one down.

Threaded coconut is another name for shredded coconut. You can get it here:

but it might be socked in a good local health food shop.
btw have you tried Coventry God Cakes? They are like a triangular eccles cake on centuries older.
