Without doubt the hot topic being discussed this morning in shops, offices and homes across much of England is the earthquake that rattled floors, furniture, windows and people at 1am last night. Living fairly close to the quakes epicentre, we felt it quite strongly here but knew what it was as we have been through this a couple of times before.

England actually has quite regular earthquakes but the vast majority are too insignificant to feel and go unnoticed by all except those measuring them so despite the fact that last nights quake was still minor in every respect it is understandable that some people would experience mild panic.

Speaking from Gainsborough, Mike Thomas, chief fire officer for Lincolnshire, said crews had been called out to 50 incidents and one fire as a result of the quake.

This is the bit that puzzles me. You have a fire, you call the fire brigade – but why did the other 50 people call? What the hell did they need the fire brigade for? Or did they just need a big, strong fireman to hold their hand? Just what is it that makes so many people so unself-reliant? And what are they going to do when something serious actually happens – except waste more public funds?

    Andy,
You made me laugh out load with that article.
On another note how do you implement your tinymce comments?
Is it through a function or plugin?
    Thanks

And here all along I think it was (we) Americans who were pussified beyond belief in our nanny state.  Glad to know we’re not alone.  Well, not really.  I had hopes the rest of the world would just pass us by in that regard…
