It’s not that things have gone quiet on the Johnny Depp front – indeed, the JDOCD still ravages my wife unabated – it’s more that I have forgotten to report and anyway, 2007 was a bit of a ‘waiting’ year. The only film to be released was the dire and muddled ‘Pirates 3′ which I thankfully didn’t have to endure as she saw it at the launch in Los Angeles while I was off visiting the Grand Canyon the result being we both felt we got the better deal. After that, the waiting began… for ‘Sweeney Todd’ – the latest in the line of both Tim Burton/Depp collaborations and Depp portraying an Englishman.
The one big moment of 2007, which was a major knicker dampener and breast tingler (er… for my wife that is), I was asked not to comment upon by the man himself and then later forgot to mention. And that was… drum roll… ‘The Encounter’. Yes, her and a couple of other equally afflicted friends got to spend twenty minutes or so chatting with ‘That Bloke’ (as he is known in our house) at the end of filming one evening at Pinewood back in the spring. She told me when she got back home that he was a ‘really nice guy’ but it was easy to spot that as she was saying ‘really nice guy’ she was thinking something completely different!
The photo above is of a ticket for tomorrow nights London premier of ‘Sweeney Todd’, and an invite to the post-premier party where, of course, a large number of otherwise ordinary women are hoping to repeat ‘The Encounter’ and meet ‘That Bloke’. The party, I am informed, is being held in a large room which is good news as no doubt the air will be heavily contaminated with outpourings of conflicting pheromones.
Hmmm. Does she know you’ve broken silence on said ‘encounter’? Of course you do realize that we appreciate him simply for the exceptional quality of his work. (wink) and I’m only going tomorrow night for the chance to chat with Tim.
Yeah right.
and he is a very nice bloke. Very sweet, just like you Andy.
I don’t think I best get into a ‘really nice bloke’ contest!
Ohh, Andy…hope your dear wife had a lovely time at the Premier/post-movie stuff. I spent all Thursday with several windows open on my computer – the webcam on Leicester Square, the Johnny Depp Zone (where we were being constantly updated on the goings-on by quite a group of "Zoners" who were lucky enough to be there, my normal work-related stuff (*yawn*), and an Instant Message window where both of us respondents were keeping up with webcam shots, news releases, fan reports…I didn’t get wet (in either sense of the word) but did get to enjoy all the furor vicariously. I understand from some fellow Deppheads that the after-party was a bit of a let-down, as the VIPs STAYED in the VIP room (sheesh, what’s up with THAT???). But brief glimpses could be had of JD, HBC, TB, AR, et al.
Tell your DW that Johnny will be filming in Chicago starting in March…she and her gal-pals could fly over and all of us Yank-Deppies could play "hostess" and we could take the Windy City by storm, as it were! LOL
Good day Jansy: Yes, there appears to be, shall we say, a bit of a difference between what was promised for the post-premiere party by the organisers and what was delivered. I should imagine phone lines and email accounts are ablaze at the moment!
