Welcome To 2008
Posted on January 1, 2008 in Personal by Andy @ Yellow Swordfish6 Comments »

A new year, a new look and I wish anyone passing through here a very happy, prosperous, entertaining, exciting, life-changing 2008. May it be one to remember.

May it be the year the Scottish Mafia in charge of Westminster get their comeuppance and Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland step closer to controlling their own destiny. May it be the year the democratic deficit of England becomes the major political issue it should be. May it be the year the world sees the end of George Bush and the start of healing the wounds he has inflicted on the American people. May it be the year that Iraq and Afghanistan see an end to soldiers on their streets. May it be the year that governments and corporations across the globe start to tackle climate change instead of just talking about it. May it be the year that Israel makes a dedicated effort to resolve the problems of Palestine. May it be the year that Palestinians make a dedicated effort to resolve their differences with Israel. May it be the year that religious zealotry of all faiths is snuffed out in favour of the only road that leads to peace. May it be the year that we start talking to each other. May it be the year we start listening.

Happy 2008 to you and yours too Andy. That’s a mighty fine wish list. While trying to remain optimistic about it all, I’d be amazed if any of it happens but one can only hope.
Personally I’d be happy if all 2008 brought me were call centres employing people who had some idea what they were talking about and didn’t make me feel I had to apologize for not understanding them because of their strong accent. (and a change of tune occasionally whist you hang on for hours would be nice too) Yeah I’m having that kind of day….again.
I wish you good luck with your wish list and I’ll be watching closely for positive signs of improvement on all mentioned. I’m sure you’ll point them out to me.  x

    Thanks Jeni.
Well at the very least we should see the Shrub go around the end of the year!

A cause for celebration indeed. Please tell me no one’s propagating  cuttings from him.

A somewhat typical and pathetic comment by a scotsman with an inferiority complex I assume…
