It is the first ‘official’ day of Spring and, despite the sudden cold snap, the gusty bitter winds and the dusting of snow that came and went yesterday, there remains the hint of better things to come as Winter slides gradually into oblivion. And I have an onerous task to perform; I have to put my car up for sale.
It has been said that a car is an extension of a mans penis and my penis and I have thoroughly enjoyed the last four years ownership of the little beauty pictured. It’s subjective I know, but to me, the BMW Z3 is a classic and perfect design; every curve exactly where it should be.
Half of me wants to store it away somewhere and just bring it out to play every now and then to enjoy it’s throaty roar as it surges forward; it’s responsive and instant acceleration as it rises to the open road ahead; it’s magnificent grip and handling as it races through it’s gears; the feel of the wind rushing through your hair as you climax a hill… Hang on. I’ll just go and take a cold shower.
But it’s surprising how often you need more than two seats.
I know how you must be feeling. I have a trusty, and only slightly rusty, MR2 Mk1 T-Bar I store for winter and with two young children its not going to get much of an airing. Even my Saturday morning sprints up the road and back seem like a minor extravagance. Im going to get it on the road again in the next week or two but I fear this year may be the last. Parting will be rather deflating .. ..
I’ve spent ther whole day NOT writing up the sale advert…..
I cried the day I left my Nissan 350z. But I needed the two extra seats.
That being said, I have put off selling all my cars for a long long time…. I hate having to part with my loved ones..
It’s a beauty, Andy.
What are the plans for a new one?
Ah! I have an Audi A4 Cabriolet due to arrive in the next week or so. I’ve got used to the roofless thing and the four seats will come in handy. I’ve put the Z3 up for sale now but it’s still tempting to just put it in a garage somewhere and get it out from time to time…. apart from the cost of course! Believe it or not it’s a 2002 and it’s only got 9900 miles on the clock…
Until you own one, you can’t judge. And once you’ve owned one, you cannot judge.
It’s a joy. I’ve found myself looking for traffic jams, just to sit and bask in the sun.
But, boy, when you hit an open stretch of road and put your foot down and that 2.8 liter engine kicks in on a 1600kg body, vavoom! Climaxing a hill is spot on!
I know what you mean abuut stopping in the sun…. er…. we even have some sometimes!
But mine is the 2.2i Sports so perhaps not quite so much vavoom as yours… but certainly all the vavoom I have ever needed!
Lol funniest post I read about a BMW.
