My wife has a penchant for magazines. All types – not just ones with Johnny Depp stories – and of course I see them laying all over the house. Many of them are the sort aimed specifically at women whose covers always feature a perfect female photo-shopped face, a revolutionary diet plan and what Angelina Jolie said to Victoria ‘Bamboo’ Beckham. You know the sort.
Anyway, today’s purchase really did feature a revolutionary diet plan, and one that we are both going to follow assiduously. And in case you’ve missed this rag I am going, out of kindness, to pass it on. And here it is – ready?
‘Eat one less chocolate bar a day’.
Guaranteed apparently. Of course we are both going to have real trouble following this diet. I mean, I don’t mind giving up one chocolate bar a day for the sake of my waistline but it’s going to be very difficult. I think the last bar of chocolate I ate, although I may be wrong here, was some time last October. But if, say, I am faced with two chocolate bars one day this coming April I will definitely eat only one. And expect miraculous results as a consequence. I can see the pounds dropping of me! In fact, I might just go out tomorrow and buy two bars so I can put this diet to the test.
Being serious for a minute, this is the sort of garbage written by someone who has quite obviously not got a weight problem. I’d like to kidnap her, hold her hostage for a year and force feed her nothing but chocolate.
You could kidnap ME & force-feed me chocolate for a year!! (Although force-feed probably wouldn’t be the term used!
)
I’ll remember what to buy you for Christmas…
Isn’t it amazing the dreck that some of the ragsnmags produce?
As far as a diet that works: I recommend NutriSystem. Unless the sort of pasta-ish foods you heat in the micro don’t appeal (as they don’t to my husband) – but I found it easy (no thinking…. leaves me more time to concentrate on web design) and pretty tasty.
Though I have to say that there’s no way I could have ever lost the 30 pounds I did in 4 months by eating their recommended 1200 calories per day. Never happen…. I get over 900 and it’s a lost cause. I’m sedentary and 60 – I don’t NEED 1200 calories a day! Even to have chocolate….
I’m with you on the calories. I have had a weight problem all of my life. The one time I went to a professional dietician she recommended a diet more or less the same as the one I eat – only hers had bigger portions and more of it! Of course, she didn’t believe me.
They never do – even when presented with the evidence of actual weight-loss and keeping-it-off over years by keeping the calorie intake to 900 cals appx. and the fat grams to less than 20 per day.
If they believed you, they’d be out a job….
Apropos….
I reupped with NutriSystem today – I want the other 15 pounds OFF by hunting season. Nice, this time I get 2 FREE WEEKS not just one….
