[...] First, as noted here, the tag embeds an h2 tag in your output. Some people don’t like this, as it messes up their hierarchy. Not a problem for me, as I use h2 tags in that position anyway [...]

@stabani
There appear to be calls to change the method of supplying updates in future - most likely after 2.1 hits the streets. Long overdue.
I don't really keep my eye on the politics of Automattic but I have encountered and witnessed the degree of arrogance that comes out of the core team but yes, the software is still excellent.

I think Wordpress is starting to become commercialized--to commercialized. Hell, most of the code is already written by the Automattic guys rather than the "community". With the new people joining Automattic, I shudder to think of the future of Wordpress.

One thing I find interesting--and the reason why I don't upgrade as often as I should--is the fact that the Wordpress team does not actually show the importance. Overwrite all files should never be an option--heck, I'd go as far as saying half the files should not be overwritten. Also, security bulletins have to be issued in order to know how important an update REALLY is, aka, how badly I should upgrade.

That being said, it's the only blogging platform that I would use. Ever.
