I have come across several requests on the WordPress forums for the ability to set categories to Pages – in the same way that is done for Posts – yet for some reason there didn’t appear to be any plugin available to do this – although I might be wrong there of course. So I thought I’d have a go and create one. Just for the hell of it really!
I have released version 1 which works for me on WP 2.x and as far as I can tell should work OK on older 1.5 installations as well although I am unable to test this for certain.
Anyone interested can find the details on the new Page Category Organiser Plugin page.
The plugin comes with a Read Me file that explains everything you need to know with details of the template tag to add a categorised page listing to your sidebar.
for some reason, I am able to set categories by default. Maybe i’m doing something wrong? OR perhaps it was in version 1.5? no clue really
stabani – page categories have never been standard in wp. By default, each page is set to a category of 1 but always filtered out of a category listing. I’m intrigued – can you let me know more?
ooh, that’s it! I was about to say I have no idea why my pages are in a category and now I can see why!
Your plugin makes so much sense. As usual, another plugin for the masses (I cant stay away from admin drop down menus, life without them is so hard)
