A long time ago, I speculated in an item called Osama and the Power of Nightmares that some time near to the end of the Shrub’s second presidential term, Osama would be caught by the Americans thus swelling the approval rating for Bush. And I wondered at the time on the likelihood of Bush and the New World Order team trying to find some way to gain an unconstitutional third term in office. Nearly a year later with time to dwell on it, I’d take bets on something happening, probably in early 2008, whether it’s the capture of Bin Laden or another terrorist outrage on US soil. But see – I’m a cynic – especially where The Shrub and his cronies are concerned. They wont want to go even if they want to replace the brainless puppet at the top. Bush will leave the White House kicking and screaming and demanding someone gives him his toys back.
So today I had a good chuckle at an April 1st spoof item on the Register entitled Bush preps historic Third Term in which they purport that a leaked memo from the White House shows the Shrub’s team planning for an administration ‘extension’ until the ‘Global War on Terrorism’ is concluded. It’s extremely well done and worth a read.
Trouble is, I know it’s a joke. But would it actually surprise anyone it it weren’t?
