Last October, TV production executive Dafydd Evans drove his Mercedes out of a junction straight into the path of motorcyclist Darren Beynon. Mr. Beynon was killed. Mr. Evans fled from the scene prompting a police search and was found guilty in January of causing death by dangerous driving.
We are told that Mr. Evans claims he was himself concussed, had lost his glasses and no doubt panicked. He voluntarily went to a police station the following morning. We are further told that it has destroyed his life, that he has become a ‘hermit’ and is now a suicide risk.
Today, Mr. Evans has been jailed for three years.
Last September, Mohammed Hussain hit and killed 3 year old Levi Bleasdale while she, her mother and babysitter were crossing a road in Burnley. Mr. Hussain was driving a stolen VW Golf. he had no driving license and he had no insurance. He also had a boot full of stolen property. Like Mr.Evans, he also did not stop, but fled the scene in his stolen vehicle.
We have not learnt whether Mr. Hussain feels any remorse at his actions. He was found guilty of careless driving.
Last week, Mr. Hussain was jailed for three months.
Spot the difference? Dangerous or Careless? Stinks doesn’t it?
This is absolutly ridiculous, if someone who has not passed their
driving test gets behind the wheel then they have the intent
to kill in my eyes. How the hell can someone be classified as a safe
driver if they have not undertaken a test, have no insurance or tax?????
All that tells me is why do we bother to pay for lessons, pay for
insurance and get our car taxed and have an mot check as you
can get away with not doing so and also take someones life and
only end up serving 12 weeks.
I am appauled by how they are allowed to get away with this. The justice system is an absolute JOKE!!!!!!!!!
You said it. Sadly, it is a very bad joke.
