I mentioned the ‘Power to the People‘ report in an earlier item today of the same title. The commission was set up to explore ‘how political participation and involvement might be increased and deepened in Britain‘. And on the whole, there are some very interesting and, in some cases, radical ideas being floated.
But if, like me, you happened to catch Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Commons, The ‘Right Honourable’ Geoff Hoon MP, spluttering his way through an interview on this evening’s PM programme (BBC Radio 4) and completely failing to give a single answer to straightforward questions, then you have a pretty good idea what the current government thinks of the Commissions report.
The word ‘terror’ comes to mind.
You should be able to listen to the programme again here.
