Yesterday Russia – Today England
Posted on February 14, 2006 in Politics by Andy @ Yellow Swordfish2 Comments »

I read an astounding story in yesreday’s Washington Post regarding the appalling fate of one Oleg Shcherbinsky. Mr. Shcherbinsky was driving his family out for a days fishing up in Siberia, minding his own business, obeying the rules of the road, when he slowed to make a turn. As he turned he was sideswiped by an overtaking limo containing the local State Governor. The Governor’s driver was ‘officially’ travelling at around 90 mph although witnesses say it was more like 120mph. He was overtaking where he shouldn’t have been and obviously driving without care. The limo hit Mr. Shcherbinsky’s old family car and flew up into the air. When it landed, it hit a tree and the politician inside was killed.

Local authorities declared it an accident and the limo drivers fault. Witnesses said that Mr. Shcherbinsky did nothing wrong. And yesterday, he was sentenced to 4 years hard labour. Only in Russia you think. Has nothing changed?

Today’s Daily Mail covers the story of the recent ‘egg attack’ on Ruth Kelly:

A fathers’ rights campaigner has appeared in court charged with an egg attack on Education Secretary Ruth Kelly. Michael Downes, 43, of Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester, appeared at Trafford Magistrates’ Court accused of smashing an egg over Miss Kelly’s head as part of a Real Fathers 4 Justice stunt.

More than a dozen supporters sat in court during the hearing and shouted slogans when the defendant was refused bail by magistrates. Downes was remanded in custody and will reappear at Trafford on February 28.

Refused bail? Remanded in custody? Just another example of how thoroughly rotten to it’s core and corrupted our justice system has become.

You don’t understand – Downes is a terrorist. He should think himself damn lucky he got anywhere near a court in the first place!

Personally, I lost all sympathy for that organisation when they spelled ‘for’ with only one letter that isn’t really even a letter. Scum.

    Scum? That’s a bit unfair.

What I DID like was that Kelly was actually leaving court having just given evidence in the case of a previous egg thrower when the new attack happened. But scum?
