i think sometimes you have to ignore the cost and just enjoy the knowledge that we can do it. To be fair, if cost were the only criteria people like Brunel would have ended up as a frustrated teacher or hansom cab driver.
You're right though if the life span is only 20 years. But we are now half way through that lifetime and it didn't look to me like it was showing any signs of decay - actually looked pristine and new.

Well NZ is my most favourite place ever. Unless things have changed since I lived there (1988-89) I would have thought you guys were far too laid back to make a law banning them! And I very much doubt you have an 1835 law in place!
Do let me know if you find out.
And I will clearly have to make another trip to the God Zone and visit an agricultural show...

I poop-pooped, I signed, and I want one too! Here (in New Zealand) we see them being ridden around the agricultural shows by pretty girls in very very short shorts. I must find out if they are allowed on footpaths/ streets etc.

I realise that upturned Tupperware dish, is infact a poor description, tupperware is useful ! On to brighter things though, my mum and sister used the Chunnel last year and couldn't believe the wonderful restoration that had been carried out on the station.
Glad you enjoyed Eddie.

Do I need to point out that the jelly mould has (if i remember correctly) about a 20 year life span - I, like I suspect you do, own items of clothing that will outlive the dud, sorry dome. I read somewhere that it cost 1000 million to build the dome and something 800 million to refurb St Pancreas - which do you think was money better spent ????
